Beeswax candle votive large (pillar)

These candles are cylindrical with a diameter of 48 mm and a height of 140, 75 and 55 mm, which weigh respectively 240, 130 and 100 grams. These candles burn for a long time, for more than 24 hours this higher.  These candles could be made using aluminum forms that are for sale in the trade to make paraffin candles and also using a mold release wax from sticking to the form. The downside is that most often occurs in cracks and shrinkage due to fast cooling. Some people use gimmicks to avoid rapid cooling using a thermal camera, the aid of a heat gun or even a hair dryer. Thinking of a way to avoid this rapid cooling, I prepared this support made with expandable polyurethane resin which is a great insulator.

With a cup saw holes are made in MDF 15 mm, the diameter of the body shapes of aluminum.

The aluminium molds would thus arranged.

Used as template PU billets with a diameter equal to the diameter of the body the aluminum mold.

The billets were lined with acetate film to be possible to remove them afterwards, because without lining the polyurethane resin adhere the billet.

The resin and catalyst weighed and ready to be mixed. After mixing has to work fast because the reaction is fast.

After the catalyst was added and the mixture well distributed throughout the box area, it is necessary to close the box with a lid tightly screwed. The cover must have holes for the exit of expanding gases and excess material.
